Today’s make something prompt was to create something that suggests the passage of time. I chose to sketch a writing process.

Although this is not how every writing project progresses, it is a familiar pattern for me. (1) Brainstorming. (2) Brain dump. (3) Editing. (4) Organizing and revising. (5) Completing the work.

How much time passes between start and finish of this process? That depends. Give me a month, and I will take it. Give me 30 minutes, and I will get it done—possibly taking a shortcut here and there, but with due attention to the creative steps required to produce good work. That’s what I do.
