Sarah just got home.

Her mother sits, sewing.

Sarah acts nonchalant,

Tries to be easygoing.

Good movie? Mom asks.

Sarah answers, not slowing.

Pretty funny, she says,

Wondering what was showing.

Sarah heads to her room,

Glad more questions weren’t flowing.

The mirror on her closet

Shows her reflection. Glowing.

Downstairs, Mom shakes her head,

Presumed stupid, but knowing.
