I wonder what comedian
could make that sourpuss grin

perhaps a string of insults
from Rodney Dangerfield
or Steven Wright’s cool deadpan
with emotion unconcealed

cream pies, falls and double takes
slayed fans of Stooges and Ball
while music got the giggles
for Adam Sandler and Rich Hall

maybe Twain or Ogden Nash will do
if words on pages are your deal
I just hope you find the wit
that makes you laugh and squeal
