When I told my kids today’s make something challenge was to create a trap, their unanimous recommendation was to invent a way to catch the ideas that seem to float away, right when I need them.
What clever device could snare the words that fail me? The details that escape me? The names and dates and numbers that are always just beyond my grasp?
Wouldn’t it be great, I thought, if I could hoist a net above my head? Then, as those useful bits of information begin to flutter away from my brain, I could trap them and look up to discover what nearly got away.
Kids are the world’s best teachers.
Amen to that! I learn from them every darned day.
