mother robin builds
twenty homes in her time
I have one to tidy
and keep out all the grime

toothpaste in the sink
shoes by the door
dishes on the table
clothes on the floor

chaos in our house
disorder all about
I’ll restore some order
when the kids move out

that’s my attitude
when I feel a little stressed
but I really can’t imagine
caring for an empty nest
