Today’s prompt is to “use seeds to make something.”
We have a bag of dried soybeans in our snack bin. Every time I see them I smile and wonder what my dad would say about the way soybeans have become a trendy snack food. I think he would laugh at the way his grandchildren devour “edamame” in or out of the shell. He would shake his head in disbelief that enterprising vendors now coat the dried beans in dark chocolate and sell them to suburban shoppers in upscale supermarkets.
He might laugh at all of this. But Daddy would be pleased for the farmer who’s profiting from a crop that has grown in extraordinary ways.
