Today’s make something assignment was to create a puppet. I wanted a puppet who might inspire me—someone who can rise out of my pencil cup with words of wisdom, just when I need them most.
The result is a stick puppet (and a speech bubble) of Virginia Satir, a psychologist who pioneered a number of remarkable ideas in counseling and family therapy.
I didn’t know of Virginia Satir until I ran across this quote from her:
“Life is not the way it’s supposed to be. It’s the way it is.
The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.”
Amen, sister. These are words I need. Often.
Evidently, this woman’s mantra was, “peace within, peace between, peace among.” I like that, too. And now that I know a bit more about her, I want to learn more. Time for a trip to the library …
