As a pants-loving feminist, I don’t completely identify with the skirted person that graces so many women’s restrooms. And yet, faced with the task of inventing new icons, I see how that figure became the symbol for the ladies’ room. It is difficult to distinguish the sexes except via body parts. (Though evolving recognition of “alternate” lifestyles blurs even those lines.)

Still, I’m going with the obvious. Look away if you must.
