Day 2 prompt: in the details

They say

“Don’t sweat the small stuff”

I say feel the heat

Like a chef over a steaming pot

Whose petite pinch of salt

Awakens every flavor in the dish

     They say

     “See the big picture”

     I say fix on fine features

     Like a pointillist before canvas

     Whose dainty dots

     Form one by one

     Until the full image is complete

They say

“Don’t miss the forest for the trees”

I say attend to every trait

Like a surgeon over an open chest

Whose eye assisted by lighted loupe

Rests on the miniscule mass

That crowds a pathway to the heart 

     They say

     “God is in the details”

     I say

     Amen.
