Not Still

Day 320 prompt: Lunchtime

the toddler’s chubby fingers
chase diced pears and Cheerios
across the scratched white plastic
of his hand-me-down highchair tray

mama nibbles a heel of bread
smeared with peanut butter
and sips cold coffee
then leans over the sink
as the juice of a peach
drips down her chin

meanwhile
daddy smiles
and holds the chair
as the lady bends
her slender legs
under a white tablecloth
and orders sparkling
not still

  1. This was beautiful. It actually reminded me of something my mother would write. OmG I think I just indirectly complimented my mother as well lol. I just really enjoyed this so much 🙂
