Make Something: Triangle

I needed to make something with triangles today … and I wanted to hold true to my theme of “words.”

Three has long been my favorite number, and the triangle my favorite shape. I like arranging things in threes, and in writing I often develop three ideas to make a persuasive point. I’m also drawn to sayings that involve triangular ideas.

Here’s a quote I love from Joseph Addison, and English writer who lived in the late 1600s and early 1700s:

“Three grand essentials to happiness in this life are something to do, something to love, and something to hope for.”

Messing with PowerPoint’s WordArt feature (admittedly not the most sophisticated tool for the job, but I’m feeling lazy this afternoon), I formed these words into a triangular shape to reinforce Addison’s three grand essentials.

Maybe I’ll have this printed on a mug; it’s a nice message to savor with tea, morning, mid-day, or evening …
