Today’s challenge was to work entirely with brown materials. The result is a photo and a poem. As soon as I publish this post, I’m going to eat the chocolate that dots the “i.”
As a kid,
I didn’t much care
for brown.
The color
of smelly work boots
and itchy wool hats
and polyester leisure suits.
So dark.
So heavy.
So drab.
As an adult,
I’ve come to appreciate—
even crave—
what is brown.
The color
of aromatic coffee beans
and velvety smooth chocolate
and deep dark eyes.
So rich.
So natural.
So full.
